Lonsdale Links
Lonsdale Links
The Course
Strategically routed to maximize striking vistas over Lake Victoria and Bass Strait, the par-70 course features template holes paying homage to the game’s early origins on linksland terrain, with subtle contours and ever-changing wind directions demanding creative shot making and course management skills. Designed as a deliberate throwback to an earlier age, the template holes you’ll find throughout make it a nostalgically challenging yet fun course, unique to Australia.
History
Originally founded in 1921 when residents bought farmland to build a 9-hole course with grass greens but initial sand scrapes, Lonsdale Links officially opened in November 1922 after 18 months of volunteer work clearing and preparing the sandy site for a links-style layout to serve members and attract golf tourists. Nearly 100 years later, the club completed full renovations of the now 18-hole course and striking contemporary clubhouse, elevating its reputation just in time for the 2022 centenary celebrations.
